Connect a TV, console or streaming stick

Smart TVs, consoles and streaming sticks have no browser to sign in with. Instead, you tell us which device is yours by adding its MAC address to your account, once.

You'll need an active plan and a phone or laptop that's already online. This takes about five minutes the first time.

Step 1: Put the device on the WiFi

On the TV or console, go to its network settings and connect to the Fireside WiFi network, the same one your phone uses. It will say it's connected but has no internet. That's expected at this point.

Step 2: Find its MAC address

A MAC address is a code that identifies one device. It's six pairs of letters and numbers, like A4:83:E7:2B:19:C0. Look in the device's network or "about" settings for MAC address, Wi-Fi address or Wireless MAC.

These are the usual places. Menus change between models and software versions, so yours may be worded a little differently.

DeviceWhere to look
RokuSettings → Network → About. Use Wireless MAC address.
Fire TVSettings → My Fire TV → About → Network. Use MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
Apple TVSettings → Network (older models: Settings → General → About). Use Wi-Fi Address.
Google TV / ChromecastSettings → System → About → Status, or Settings → Network & Internet.
Samsung TVSettings → Support → About This TV, or Settings → General → Network → Network Status.
LG TVSettings → All Settings → Support (or General) → About This TV / TV Information.
XboxSettings → General → Network settings → Advanced settings. Use Wireless MAC.
PlayStation 5Settings → System → System Software → Console Information. Use MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
PlayStation 4Settings → System → System Information. Use MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
Nintendo SwitchSystem Settings → Internet. Use System MAC Address.

If the device lists two addresses, use the Wi-Fi or wireless one, not Ethernet or LAN.

Step 3: Add it to your account

  1. On your phone or laptop, open your account page.
  2. Under Devices, tap Add a TV, console or streaming stick.
  3. Type the MAC address. Colons or dashes are fine either way, and capitals don't matter.
  4. Give it a name you'll recognise, like "Living room TV", and tap Add Device.

The device comes online within about a minute. From then on it reconnects by itself every time it's turned on. You only do this once per device.

If it doesn't come online
